When Christians Disobey God
Gods word came to Jonah, but he chose his own way. As a result, he found himself in a storm and after admitting to the mariners that it was his faultthrown off the boat and into the belly of a fish. Jonahs wrong decision brought a lot of problems to his life. Yet, before we judge him too harshly, many of us have turned away from Gods word to do what we thought was better. And like Jonah, we find ourselves in the middle of a mess and wondering how we are going to get out of it.
When we choose to disobey God, we choose to be disciplined by Him. Because of His great love for us, He wont let us get away with our sin. Instead, He will use Satan, other people, and circumstances to encourage us towards repentance. If God didnt love us, He would let us get away with our sins and suffer more loss because of them.
Sometimes we think that God overlooks our disobedience because He has so many other people. However, God sees each of us like theres only one of us. Perhaps we disobey because we believe we can outrun Gods presence, but He sees everything we do and nothing is hidden from His sight.
Obedience to God is better than any sacrifice we could offer to Him. When we obey God, we experience greater joy and contentment with the life He has given us. Our obedience comes with blessings too numerous to list. Many times it doesnt see like being obedient pays off as fast as we want it to happen. Yet, every step of faithful obedience will reap spiritual, emotional, and physical investments from now until eternity.
