It’s Always Something
Have you ever had those days when it seems like everything goes wrong? You just get all of your kids healthy and the dog gets sick? You get all your bills paid and the refrigerator breaks down? You study all night for a test and the questions are not what you studied? You finally get to the place at your job where you feel comfortable and the company changes overnight?
We live in a world thats always changing. It would be better to expect the unexpected than it is to expect calm. While we cant always control all the happenings in our lives, we can control how our response to them. In one day, Job lost all his money and all of his children. If that werent enough, he was then afflicted with sores from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. Yet he still gave God glory and didnt turn away from his faith.
Job didnt know what we know today. We have insiders knowledge that God is in control of everything that happens to us. We also have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit who gives us power from God to press on in spite of our circumstances.
Our response to the fact that its always something is that God has a plan and purpose for our lives. We respond to our situations in faith knowing that everything is working out for our good. Theres no place for fear nor uncertainty because God has given us a spirit of power, love, and sound mind.
Good things will happen this week. Bad things will happen this week. Yet everyday theres breath in our bodies, its an opportunity to give God glory no matter what is going on in our lives.
