God Can

There are many times in our Christian journey where we will be tested in our faith. We know that God can do the impossible, but will He do it for us? It’s difficult when we are hit by the hard stuff of life, especially when it’s our family members or friends in trouble. We want to believe God can; however, we are tempted to let our minds wander to the worst possible scenarios.

It’s in those days that we must gird up our minds to focus on God’s word and His ways. As we turn to the truths of Scripture, we are encouraged to keep our faith because we know that He works everything for our good. We know that He hears our prayers and answers them according to His will because we are praying. We know that the gates of hell can’t prevail against the church. We know that God is with us when two or three of us are gathered in His name.

When we focus on God’s ways, we remember how He kept His promise to Abraham, even though it was humanly impossible for an elderly couple to have a baby. We remember how He intervened for the children of Israel by freeing them from slavery and leading them to the Promised Land. We remember how God through the power of the Holy Spirit gave David the courage and strength to defeat Goliath. Then we also remember that God never changes and what He did for those in the Bible, He can still do today.

We meditate on the many different ways that God answered our prayers when we are absolutely without hope or strength. We meditate on how He healed our bodies, restored our marriages, saved our prodigals, and blessed our homes.

God can. God will in His own timing and plan. Just have faith.
